Even when man is faced with the TRUTH, there is no compulsion upon man to embrace it. But before you begin to form an opinion about Islam, ask yourself whether your existing knowledge of Islam is thorough enough. Ask yourself whether that knowledge has been obtained through non-Muslim third party sources who themselves have probably been exposed to only random glimpses of Islamic writings and have yet to reason on Islam objectively and systematically themselves. Is it fair that one should form an opinion about the taste of a particular dish just by heresay from others who may themselves not necessarily have tasted the dish yet?. Similarly you should find out for yourself about Islam from reliable sources and not only taste it, but digest it well before you form an opinion. That would be an intellectual approach to Islam. In making your move, Islam continuously reassures you that your rights to freedom of choice ** and freedom to use that God-given faculty of thought and reason will be respected. Every man has that individual will. No one else can take that away that will and force you to surrender to the will of God. You have to find out and make that decision yourself. |

In the Holy Qur’an, God Most High enjoins Muslims to issue the following call to Christians (and Jews—the People of the Scripture):
Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to a common word between us and you: that we shall worship none but God, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside God. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him). (Aal ‘Imran 3:64)
If we had a law that would ban women from dressing provocalively the number of rape would definitely decrease by a high percentage.I would suggest that you support that law. Would you like your daughter to dress provocatively?
Your lack of respect for woman is evident in the way you treat them. Beat and kill them to protect your so called honour. Wont allow them to be educated,drive a car, do what they want . They are equal to men and capable of running their own lives. Go back to your muslim country and keep your pathetic ideals in your narrow minded little heads.

Narrated Mu’awiyah al-Qushayri: I went to the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) and asked him: “What do you say (command) about our wives?” He replied: “Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them.” (Sunan Abu Dawud: Book 11, Number 2139) “The best of you is one who is best towards his family and I am best towards the family”. (At-Tirmithy). “None but a noble man treats women in an honourable manner. And none but an ignoble treats women disgracefully”. (At-Tirmithy).

Thanks for the response Helen.I hope that it’s prialrimy social reinforcement. Your perspective actually echo’s that of a friend of mine who’d worked w/ battered women in San Francisco. She’s a lesbian, and so was assigned cases concerning both hetero & homosexual couples. Despite a strong PC tendency, she’d eventually come to a similar conclusion – that rewarding a posture of victimization motivated people to claim victimization opportunistically. This was apparently a big stumbling block when dealing with lesbian couples as both partners could claim victim’s status on multiple counts. She’d jokingly refer to the early counseling process as ‘queen of the hole’ ( a play on king of the hill ), because each partner was trying to get below the other in the victim hierarchy. But she claimed to see a similar phenomena w/ heterosexual women who abused their children. I think that seeing a grown woman try to blame a child for their abusiveness was what turned her around.
Who the hell do you think you are?? Writing that letter to the Toronto Sun stating women are asking for it because of the way they dress.? That Canadian women should dress like Muslim women? Muslim aren’t targeted because of the way they dress, its because no one wants to touch them. Don’t you get it? We don’t want you here. Go back from where you came from. If you don’t like how we do things here, go back to your own country. I was born in Canada so there is not need to tell me to leave Canada.
People need to understand that Islam protects the honour and dignity of women. We do not treat our women like sex objects or sex toys. Women are our daughters, our mothers and our wives and we strongly believe that the dignity and the respect of the woman should be protected.
Having a law banning women from dressing provocatively would bring stabililty to our society.
